Our Little Farm

My husband and I raised our 3 awesome humans in beautiful rural Wainfleet on nearly four acres,

and we settled here just before our third child was born.  We aim to be sustainable, follow principles

of permaculture, heat with wood, grow our own food, and all members of the house participate in this hard, yet rewarding work.

I grew up on a hobby farm in Bismarck, Ontario and my life would not be complete without animals, nature and plants.

There are 3 beloved resident dogs at our home; "MoJo" is a full size Australian Shepherd, "Lulu" is a mini Aussie, and  "Ruby" is a Shi-poo.  Full of personality and zip, these pups are my best friends!  Lulu had her first litter of Aussie puppies this fall.

We have Katahdin sheep, which are a form of "hair" sheep that do not need to be sheared and are wonderful mothers, often giving birth to twins.  Lambing season is February and March, and it is the most glorious time of the year!  2022 was the year of "F" names, and all lambs born will have names that begin the letter F.  Nine healthy babies: Frick, Frack, Ferris, Fender, Flower, Fiona, Ferdinand, Fannie, and Fergus!  Thank you to my patients for all the wonderful name suggestions! 2023 will be the year of "G" names.

We have a flock of laying hens that free run in in our yard, with a beautifully handsome rooster keeping watch over them. Sometimes eggs are available for you!  Also we keep rabbits, have barn cats, and pasture raise turkeys.  Outside of office hours, you will meet me in the driveway in plaid with rubber boots - my favourite attire.
